Meet the Team Treating the Brain-Gut Connection

Dr. John Fortunato, Pediatric GI specialist and professor at Lurie Children's Hospital, world-renowned expert in POTS, DGBI,

Founder & Medical Director

John Fortunato, MD

Dr. John Fortunato isn't just a gastroenterologist; he is a detective for the autonomic nervous system. After years of treating children with unexplained nausea, dizziness, and abdominal pain, he realized that standard tests were missing the bigger picture: Gravity.

Patients with POTS and Dysautonomia have a "software" problem in their autonomic nervous system. When they stand up, gravity pulls blood away from their brain and gut, causing debilitating symptoms. Standard medicine often treats the organs individually, but Dr. Fortunato treats the connection between them.

A Unique Approach to Complex Care. His methodology combines three distinct fields of expertise to validate and treat the root cause of your symptoms:

  • Neuro-Gastroenterology Expert: Dr. Fortunato served as the Director of the Neurointestinal & Motility Program at Lurie Children’s Hospital, where he pioneered multidisciplinary care models for complex POTS patients.

  • US Air Force Flight Surgeon: As a Flight Surgeon, Dr. Fortunato gained deep expertise in hemodynamics—the study of how blood moves against G-force and gravity. He applies this NASA-level physiological understanding to help POTS patients stay upright.

  • Professor & Researcher: He has published extensively on the intricate links between Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), POTS, and gastrointestinal motility disorders.
